Reiki Self Healing Hand Positions

Self-healing is where real Reiki confidence is built.

Not in theory.
Not in certificates.
In practice.

These hand positions are a guide to support your daily self-treatment. Over time, your hands may naturally move to places not listed here. That isn’t a mistake — that’s intuition developing.

Reiki flows through you, not from you.

Your role is not to force healing.
Your role is to allow it.

If you are attuned to Reiki, relax and let the energy move where it’s needed.

If you are not yet attuned, you can still follow these positions with intention and presence. Intention alone can be deeply supportive — but attunement strengthens the current significantly.

Preparing for Your Self-Treatment

Before you begin, create a calm and uninterrupted space.

You might like to:
• Play soft music
• Light a candle or incense
• Sit somewhere comfortable
• Take a few slow breaths

Then simply connect.

You don’t need performance.
You don’t need to “get it right.”

Just place your hands and allow.

Hold each position for as long as feels natural. Some areas may need longer. Others may feel complete quickly.

Reiki builds through repetition — not intensity.

The Eyes

Cover your eyes with your hands gently cupped as if trying to hold some water in the palm of your hands. This is so relaxing and helps to sink your energy back within yourself.

This position is good to calm stress, eye complaints, frontal headaches, third eye development ect. All positions around the head area are also good to calm the mind.

The Ears

Slide your hands from your eyes to your ears, again keeping your hands cupped. This is the best position for headaches, jaw problems, teeth, earache ect

Top of Head

Slide your hands from your ears to the top of your head with finger tips touching but not overlapping. Palms are close to the top of the ears.

Back of the Head, Occipital Region

Good to relieve whiplash, neck problems etc but also good for trusting your now, intuition and ‘letting go’.

It’s like putting yourself (the head) in the hands of the Universe/another. There are a few different positions that you can use here. Don't get all technical about it in your mind - that's a heavy energy - just do which ever FEELS best to you.

The Throat

Move your hands to the throat position which helps anything relating to expression. Communication is the key here.

Great to calm sore throats. Mumps, tonsillitis, thyroid, larynx problems etc and help with ease of words, self -expression and communication.

The Heart

This is relaxing and nurturing. Stills the emotions, gets you present, and stills the mind. Excellent for all of the organs in this region including the lungs, heart, thymus, diaphragm, tip of the liver, spleen, oesophagus and stomach.

A lovely way to calm down or quell nerves about something.

Top of the Shoulders

Not one of the easiest positions to hold on yourself but good for cascading energy down into the whole torso.

The Solar Plexus

Focusing in this area and ‘belly breathing’ naturally deepens your breath and uses all your lungs.

It’s also good for relaxing the mesenteric and small bowel.

The Abdomen

The liver, spleen, gallbladder and stomach. Helps to ‘release and let go’ the emotional/physical contents of the large bowel and to keep things ‘on the move’ to prevent constipation.

This is also your gathering centre so if you have gathered something that you don’t want like sad emotions or shocking news from  the TV or someone else’s anger, then focusing on this area will help you to release it.

The Pelvic/Groin Area

Energy used here is good for reproductive issues so ovaries, testicles, uterus etc.

Also covers the bladder, prostate, descending colon, appendix and rectum. This position is good for calming ‘irritable emotional responses’ to situations.

Base of the Spine / Tailbone Area

It is great to use energy in this area when you’re feeling unsettled. It really helps to ground our energy.

Good for the hips, rectum (piles, prolapse, abscess) sciatica, lower back pain.

The Kidneys

The kidneys work as your energy batteries. When ever we feel tired and lethargic, worn out and run down, then often times it is because we have a depleted energy store in our kidneys.

Allowing Reiki energy to run through our kidneys can be very reviving and refreshing to our whole system.

The kidneys are also our ‘filters'. Therefore, taking time to nurture our kidneys is a good way of flushing out unwanted physical elements – literally – as well as unnecessary emotional debris too.

Kidneys also work as part of a pair or team so they often reflect ‘partnerships’ such as joint ventures, business relationships, team sports etc

This position is also good for backache, sciatica and lower back problems.

The Feet

Hold your left foot with both hands in a way that is comfortable.

Hold your right foot with both hands in a way that is comfortable.

Hold your right foot with your right hand and your left foot with your left hand in a way that is comfortable.

Swap hands so you’re now holding your left foot with your right hand and your right foot with our left hand in a way that is comfortable. This cross over position balances the right and left sides of the nervous system.

After Your Self-Treatment

When you feel complete:

• Take a slow breath
• Offer gratitude
• Gently disconnect and close your session

Drink water.
Stay grounded.
Move slowly for a few minutes.

Reiki isn’t a “one-hit” experience.
It’s a relationship.

The more consistently you practise, the more steady your confidence becomes.

This is apprenticeship energy.

You don’t rush mastery.
You grow into it.
