Looking in the mirror isn’t just about seeing your reflection — it’s about meeting yourself. The mirror acts as a truth detector. When we say affirmations like “I like who I’m becoming” while doing the inner work in (like in this course for example), the mirror reflects that truth back to us. But if we speak words we don’t truly believe, we can feel the resistance instantly. The eyes don’t lie. This is why mirror work is such a powerful tool: it shows us where our energy is aligned and where it still needs healing.
The ultimate goal of mirror work is to get to a place where you can look at yourself with love, compassion, and respect. At first, this can feel uncomfortable or even confronting — especially if old stories from childhood have shaped the way you see yourself. But with gentle repetition, you begin to shift from self-criticism to self-acceptance, and eventually to self-love.
As small children, many of us were told things that left marks on our self-esteem — whether from parents, teachers, or others in authority. We might have been made to feel “not enough,” “too much,” or somehow “unworthy.” The truth is, these were never our beliefs. They were other people’s outdated patterns and unhealed wounds, projected onto us. Yet, we carried them and allowed them to form the foundation of our own self-image.
But here’s the empowering part: those old stories are not you. They’re just old energy. And you have the power to release them.
Those old limiting beliefs become strong neural pathways in the brain, looping like an automatic program. If left unchecked, they repeat for years, shaping how we think and act. This is why it feels so hard to change at first — the brain is simply running its well-practiced program. But here’s where the magic of neuroplasticity comes in.
Neuroplasticity is your brain’s ability to rewire itself. Every time you choose a new thought, a new belief, or a new story, you’re carving out a fresh pathway in your brain. The more often you practice that new thought, the stronger that pathway becomes — until eventually, it becomes your new automatic way of thinking.
This is why mirror work combined with daily practices is so effective. You’re not only speaking new words — you’re physically reshaping your brain.
To speed this process up, grab a notebook and every day write down 10 things you like about yourself. This might feel challenging at first, but remember: start small. Your list doesn’t have to be life-changing or profound.
Examples:
I make a great cup of coffee.
I care about my friends.
I’m good at remembering birthdays.
I’m learning new things about myself.
I show up, even when it’s hard.
As the days go by, your list will expand and evolve. You’ll notice your focus shifting toward your strengths, your kindness, your talents, and the ways you’re growing. These daily acknowledgments become your new beliefs — and those beliefs shape the person you are becoming.
Through mirror work, affirmations, and daily rewiring practices, you are actively becoming the improved version of yourself. This is more than just words — it’s a lived transformation. Over time, you’ll notice that looking in the mirror feels lighter, easier, even joyful. You’ll see someone who is worthy of love, respect, and all the good things life has to offer.
And the best part? This improved version of you was always there. You’re simply uncovering it, layer by layer, by choosing to do the inner work.
